Sadly we say goodbye to Marilyn Bland after an association with us since 1982
We are very sorry to announce that a well loved and committed member of the staff at Combe Hay, Marilyn Bland, has decided to retire after a long association with Combe Hay.
Marilyn’s first contact with Combe Hay was in 1982 when her then neighbour, who Marilyn looked after, moved into the home. She visited many times over the following years and got to know many of the staff and residents.
In 1994 Marilyn was invited to become a member of the Board of Trustees on which she remained until taking up the position of Office Manager in 2003.
In this important role, Marilyn was the first point of contact for anyone phoning or visiting Combe Hay and also for answering queries from both staff and residents.
Her many other duties included being Clerk to the Trustees, overseeing projects, invoicing, payroll and, marketing which included advertising, brochures and commissioning a website.
In 2007 Marilyn reduced her hours and worked as a Relief Office Manager covering regular weekly shifts as well as holiday cover for her job share partner.
“I am very sad to be leaving after so many very enjoyable years,” said Marilyn, “I will miss the staff and residents greatly as well as the many events such as garden parties and buffets that were delightful and to which I’m hoping to be invited in the future.”
Head of Home, Karen Holroyd said “We will miss Marilyn greatly not only for the enthusiastic way in which she carried out her duties but for the great support she offered to her colleagues. We wish her a long and happy retirement and hope that she will be a regular visitor”.
