Care Team

Karen Holroyd is our Head of Home and she welcomes everyone to Combe Hay and is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Home. Karen also makes sure that the Home meets the required standards and fulfills the legal obligations in respect of management, record keeping, and the employment of staff in sufficient numbers, and with the relevant mixture of skills. Working alongside Karen is Pam Ross, Deputy Head of Home. We also have a dedicated and committed Care Manager Emine Tekis.  In addition, our Care Team has two Senior Team Leaders, and two Team Leaders, one Welfare Manager, a Welfare Assistant and a team of highly trained care assistants who provide care and support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Our Welfare Team, Micky Vickers and Yvette Sowden advertise all our activities on the residents’ notice boards. They are responsible for the organization of:

  • activities
  • social events
  • visiting entertainment
  • accompanied shopping trips into Scarborough for residents who feel unable to go on into town on their own
  • trips in the Home’s mini-bus  (coffee trips, sea front outings, theatre trips, picnics, visits to stately homes and places of interest)
  • religious observance

Micky is always available to listen to residents who wish to discuss any private matters in confidence.

Our care assistants deal with most aspects of social and personal care and they work closely with all our residents.  They are trained to deliver and supervise medication when required. However we are happy for residents to remain responsible for their own medication if this is a more suitable arrangement for the resident. Care assistants serve meals in the dining room and deliver trays to the residents’ rooms as appropriate, and when required. They also serve early morning tea, afternoon tea, supper drinks and snacks.
